Octave Chanute to Wilbur Wright

Chicago, July 27, 1905

I have yours of 16th, and hope your next experiments will be more productive of results.

I enclose a clipping1 giving a good picture of the Archdeacon machine. You will note that he has added 4 vertical keels to the main surfaces and a tail with 3 vertical keels, while he still retains the front rudder.

I am curious to know whether you think that these complications are likely to prove valuable.

I have been greatly shocked to learn of Montgomery man's disaster. I think one of the wing hinges broke.
